Party plan

One-Night Arcade

Four tiny tournaments, one handmade leaderboard, no gaming skill required.

8–16 people75 min prep

Build an arcade from fast games with wildly different skills: reaction time, luck, aim, and button-mashing. Rotate groups every ten minutes, then bring the top scorers together for a ridiculous final.

Before guests arrive

  • Choose four games that test different skills and can reset in under a minute.
  • Test every controller, battery, cable, and scoring rule before guests arrive.
  • Post a rotation chart so groups know where to move after each round.

The three moments

1

Choose short stations

Favor games anyone can understand in under a minute. Avoid a single title dominating the whole evening.

2

Keep a visible leaderboard

Write names and scores where everyone can see them. Competitive suspense arrives automatically.

3

Design the final boss

Combine two skills from earlier stations or use a deliberately luck-heavy game so the ending stays unpredictable.
